Apple would work on an application to replace iTunes for Windows 10 and Xbox

At Apple

the publication of a job offer to "build the next generation of media applications for Windows" suggests that a wave of change could intervene for the suite of tools offered by Apple on Windows 10. On the Microsoft OS, the replacement of iTunes by at least one brand new application is thus presentiment.

Old, impractical and especially anachronistic since the disappearance of iTunes on macOS (deleted with the deployment of macOS Catalina for the benefit of three separate applications: Music, Podcast and TV), iTunes for Windows could also be replaced by at least one new application multimedia. At least that's what Apple is suggesting in a job posting for a software engineer, posted on LinkedIn.

Towards the same application triptych as on macOS?

In his post Apple says he wants to "build the next generation of media applications for Windows." The ad continues, "If you love music, are passionate about writing code, and want to work with world-class engineering teams that deliver (tools) to millions of users, the Media Apps team is for you. "

If it is advisable to advance with muffled steps in our deductions, Apple could quite proceed on Windows in the same way as on macOS. In this case it would then eliminate the cumbersome iTunes to deliver the three applications mentioned above: Music, Podcast and TV. More interestingly, Apple might not be limited to just deploying these tools on Windows 10.

The famous "UWP" evoked by Apple

As Neowin points out, the Cupertino company mentions, still in the same announcement, its desire to develop a UWP (universal Windows platform) experience. In other words, these three potential applications would be developed to integrate with other Microsoft platforms, such as the Xbox ecosystem. Create an application for the Microsoft Store on Windows 10, then replicate it on the Xbox One Store would be easy.

This initiative would make sense for Apple, which would then touch two platforms instead of one and could notably offer its new Apple TV + service to more users. As a reminder, in addition to iOS, tvOS and macOS, the latter is already accessible on Samsung Smart TVs, as well as on Roku devices and Fire TVs.
